Our History
A legacy of excellence: shaping futures since 1989
Founded in 1989, Horizon is a non-selective, private primary school. One of the oldest schools in Dubai, we offer British curriculum education to children aged between 3-11 years.
We started as a small villa school with just 12 children, and over the years our school campus has changed beyond recognition. Although we now have over 1000 children enrolled at Horizon, our commitment to children and our ethos of child development through engaging, innovative learning, has remained the same.
At the start of 2021, we became part of the Cognita global family of schools of which we are delighted to be part of.
Our Environment
Building bright futures on a foundation of quality
We now have over 1,000 children at Horizon but continue to tailor our learning to make sure that each child feels included, stimulated and encouraged to develop their own passions and interests. We are always looking to change and improve the learning environments for the children and in recent years we have built a STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Moral) room, developed our inclusion department, enhanced our sports facilities and provided innovative outdoor playground spaces.
Almost all of our class teachers come from British schools and are British trained, which reflects our commitment to the British curriculum, and all have a minimum of two to three years’ teaching experience, ensuring that the school can benefit from their wisdom and best UK teaching practices.
When our students complete Year 6, they can transition to a range of schools. Being part of the Cognita family of schools provides our students with direct routes to any of our sister schools: RGS Guildford Dubai; Repton Dubai; Repton Al Barsha and Horizon International School. Whether returning to a secondary school in the UK or transitioning to a school in Dubai, the quality of education that students receive at Horizon sets them up perfectly for this next phase in their educational journey.
