Extra-curricular activities

At Horizon English School, we encourage learning to go beyond the classroom. We enrich our classroom curriculum with relevant school trips and excursions and we have a flourishing programme of wide-ranging after-school activities.

Residentials and School trips

We run an appropriate school trip for every year group (including FS1), once or twice a term. Excursions include The Green Planet, Dubai Aquarium, Al Ain Zoo, the Burj Khalifa and Sharjah Museum.

In addition, our Key Stage Two pupils (Year 3 to 6) also go on an outdoor adventure, once a year. Designed to promote skills of leadership and independence, Year 3 visits a wilderness site, usually in RAK or Sharjah for a single day, while Year 4, 5 and 6, stay overnight. This direct experience of nature is the highlight of the school calendar and often sees life-long friendships being formed.

Horizon English School also offers an annual international ski trip, every January. Students from Year 4 and above are eligible to join the popular trip to Switzerland, where the Horizon group takes over dedicated accommodation, located right on the slopes.

There are also opportunities to travel with our lead choir, who attend competitions across the GCC region.

After - school activities

Horizon English School offers all students the chance to reinforce their learning through free teacher-led activities every term. Topics change every term but clubs include (amongst others)  Lego construction handwriting, French movies, water polo, Arabic reading, problem-solving, hip-hop dance, choir, mindfulness and Zumba.

We are able to offer after-school activities from FS1, which is not common place in Dubai.

In addition we also partner with a number of external providers including Elite, Drama Scene, Dance Horizons and Little Masterpieces, to offer tuition in football, tennis, karate, art, ballet, basketball and other sporting and creative disciplines.
